Fishing Report April 16, 2007
The seas are calm and nice. Large schools of tarpon biting outside. There is no action in the river due to very low water. There is a good bite on Mojarra and pan fish in the back lagoons when you can get a boat in at high tide!
Jim Hanken of Kenmore, WA., and Harrison Jewell of Dewards, WA. along with Bob Herbert of Littleton CO. extended their trip an extra day after what they said was the greatest fishing of their lives. They have jumped 26 tarpon and boated 9.
Gregory rose of Yebnire, WA. had fished several times unsuccessfully in South Florida. During his visit at Rio Colorado this week, he broke two 12 weight rods, boated the fish and has jumped 12 tarpon and boated 3 in the first 2 days of a 4 day trip. Greg said it was the most amazing thing he had ever seen other than fishing bears in Alaska or maybe calling in a big elk!
Kota Kiruma and Sato Yoshio of Tayko Japan,jumped 8 monstor tarpon and boated 3 along with a 40 pound wahoo.
Herman and Kirby Burton of Houston, TX jumped 13 tarpon and boated 3.
