Fishing Report Ending March 26, 2006
Great Fishing. BIG tarpon in the river mouth, up river and outside. Sunny, warm days with generally a shower at night to cool things down.
Unexpected guest Michael Horman from Haward, WI. arrived down river in a local boat. Fortunately we had space for Michael for 2 days, and in those 2 days he jumped 16 tarpon and boated 5!
On March 21st, guest Tim and Betsy McDonough of Lake Elmo, MN jumped 9 tarpon and boated 3.
Bruce and Eunice Chisolm of Temecula, CA arrived for their 3rd visit on March 23td. Eunice got her big one!! They fished 4 days and Eunice boated 3 tarpon over 150lbs. One afternoon they jumped 7 tarpon in 3 hours. Their last afternoon 3/26, the couple had a tarpon on one or both of the rods the entire afternoon from start to finish!
Douglas Johnson of Highland Park, IL and his fishing partner John O'Malley of Willow Brook, IL had a blast. Their first day they have several tarpon to the boat, and it just got better. They literally lost count of the tarpon they jumped. On Sunday the 27th in the afternoon, they had two double hook ups, and they boated 2 within three hours.
Jacquelyn Raczka of Claymont, DE and her boyfriend Michael Kierran of Wilmington, DE visited the Lodge March 26 & 27. Jacquelyn (a non-fisher woman) boated her first tarpon ever. A perfect size for a lady's first shot, a 65 lb. tarpon. Not to be outdone, Michael boated a big one that day. Then on the morning of the 27th, Michael fished alone with guide Gilbert Brown and jumped 5 tarpon, boating 4 over 120 pounds!
