Fishing Report ending October 22, 2005
Blue skies, hot weather and an occasional shower have not spoiled consistent fishing with spurts of EXPLOSIVE action.
The fish always feed like crazy when a hurricane passes and the barometer swings more than normal!
Angler Steve Love of Nuevo Arenal boated a nice 25 lb. triple tail, some large jacks and several nice tarpon. Repeat guest Joe Tedesco of Sewell, NJ jumped several nice tarpon all week, and on his last day of fishing, jumped 12 tarpon, and boated 4. Lawyer Paul Wharton of Chicago and long time fishing partner Lester Wallace caught all the tarpon they could stand, and then decided they could stand more and extended their stay one more day and were not disappointed!
Larry Hustler of San Jose and Dan Wise fishing light tackle top water baits in back lagoons loaded up on mojarra and kept fresh fish on the dinner table all week.
The river has started to rise from the mountain rain, so we expect the firt calba (fat snook) to be showing up soon.
If season is normal the calba should be with us until late January.
