Fishing Report March 26, 2007
A Japanese team was here last week to film a fishing show for Japanese television. Of course, the bite got hot Sunday afternoon just after then left in the morning! Fortunately they were able to get enough fish to get a good show.
The tarpon are now biting good up river, in the mouth inside the breakers and also off shore when we can get across the bar.
March 15th Charles Shoemaker and Sandra Muggee of Glendale, CA jumped 6 tarpon and boated one. Roy Ventura of Golfito and his wife Dunia caught 40 Mojarra on a fly rod in the lagoons and late in the day jumped a nice tarpon.
Three time world record Karate champion Glen Hiatt visited the Lodge March 16 to 19 along with his friend Gaynor Lorentzen of Spanaway, WA. They jumped 9 tarpon and boated four.
Jay Gibson of San Antonio, TX. on a one day trip jumped 3 tarpon, boated one on fly and one on conventional tackle.
Gary and Kathleen Daniel of San Ramon, CA fished with us March 17 - 20th. During that time they jumped 16 tarpon and boated four.
Keith Becker and Dean Retzleff of Wisconsin jumped 10 tarpon, but boated none.
Bass Master Tanobe Norio of Japan jumped 11 and boated three during a 4 day television shoot.
Jack Valstar of Holland, jumped 7 and boated one during a two day trip.
The river is down, and the weather clear after a lot of abnormal, sporadic rain during the last two weeks.
