Fishing report ending November 27, 2005
On their 4th returning trip beginning November 11th, Dr. Arthur Riberio and Dr. Erki Larsson of Sao Palo Brazil jumped 33 tarpon and boated 6.
Carl Everett, a regular angler at Rio Colorado Lodge brought his wife Stacy for a quick one day trip and she now has a photo of her first tarpon 140 lb. Not bad for a first tarpon catch!!
On November 12 & 13, Clifford Roche of Beasly, TX. and his fishing partner Sean McKnight jumped 10 tarpon and boated 2.
Arcadia, FL. brothers Dwight and David Daughtry, had a triple and a double hook up! In two days fishing, they boated 5 of 18 jumped tarpon!
Chris Himebauch, son in law of the late Florida Senator George Kirkpatrick, organized a small tournament in honor of Senator Kirkpatrick, the great conservationist. Anglers were Chris Himebauch of Windermere, FL., Charlie Carlton, Wally Grant(of pro bass circuit fame), Larry Stopelli, Pate Carlton and Jeff Sural. These six anglers jumped 83 tarpon and boated 32. No official word yet on the tournament winner!! Photos soon to come - check the recent photo updates. The second annual Senator George tournament will be next November.
The Senator and his conservation efforts will be greatly missed.
On November 19th, Costa Rican brothers Thomas & Robert Geriach tried using an ancient family heirloom reel with drag problems and still managed to jump several tarpon and actually boated a few!
On a two day trip November 25,26, Rodney Winter of Elk Run, MN. fishing alone, jumped 20 tarpon and boated 4.
The Calba are in. Tarpon are hitting outside and in the river mouth as they start their annual migration for winter inland fishing.
