Fishing Report ending October 8,2005
While most of the rest of Costa Rica was drenched with rain, we at the Rio Colorado Lodge enjoyed sunny skies for the most part, and typical solid tarpon action outside.
Seven Japanese anglers returning for their third visit, were testing new ultra-slim rods for Carpenter Rod Company of Japan got all the tarpon action they could stand and broke only one test rod!
Boyd Brown, 75 years plus, of Tampa, FL returning for his 20th visit has boated large tarpon morning and afternoon, all over 110 pounds, Boyd is showing the young guys how to do it, returning early from each fishing session for a power nap before meals and more catches!!
Barry Chandler of San Jose opted for light tackle for mojarra, and kept fresh fish on the dinner table all three days he was here. He also had a first experience, snagging a 30lb. yellow fin while tarpon fishing. This grilled up just fine, and we all enjoyed fresh sushi with wasabe mustard for bocas!
Flat seas continue with lots of big schools in close. All anglers hooking up more than once each outing, but still there is a large concentration of fresh shrimp in the area so waiting for the inevitable hook up is a little frustrating seeing so many jumping fish chasing shrimp!
